I will have a look tonight, but I might have an Ortofon OM5E cart lying around at home. Needs a stylus though, but this specific model is not too badly priced - around R400 from HFX.

It will be yours for free if I manage to find it. A new cart will transform the TT completely, hence my first comment.

Frikkie is probably right.
It does sound like at the very least the stylus is not well.

New cart is the easiest, and a freebie from Jaco would be a nice way to go.
Cross your fingers and hope Jaco finds that cart.  ;)

You can buy  not too bad cable with integrated earth wire from Zakspeed @ R9/metre.

OK AC, I have the Cart in my grubby hands... ;D
I also have the mounting screws, but please make sure your tone arm tracking force can adjust between 1,5-2,0 g (15-20 mN).
