Why does 2k have to be sprayed?

It cures way too quick.  There isn't enough time for it to settle smooth nevermind settle the brush strokes.

If you use less catalyst the stuff won't cure completely so unfortunately spray is your only option with this one.

You can get an airless spraygun from places like Adendorfs for not too much money.  Although not great, you will get a good finish with some practice.

I think spraying is out of the question at this stage.

I can't seem to find info on Nova 20...

Nova 27 looks promising...
