Good news for Metallica fans
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:53:06 pm »
"The Black Album" - Metallica's most successful album - is now available as a high resolution 96kHz/24bit FLAC download on HDtracks.com.
I haven't downloaded it yet and therefore cannot vouch for the quality.

If it really is 96kHz/24 bit, the sound quality should be better than the CD (44.1kHz/16bit).

For those that are interested.  Here is the waveform of the HDTracks version against the CD version of Enter Sandman.  HDTracks top and CD bottom

Slightly more conservative than the CD, nice to see it's not a total botch job for a change.

Needledrop of same track from 45RPM reissue.  You'll definitely need to turn it up compared with the others, but that's a good thing  ;)
