Wall brackets to fit speakers
« on: August 12, 2011, 04:14:42 pm »
Hi,

I want to move my back speakers from the wall due to the rear port. I have tried Hi-Fi Corp as well as Builders and a few other places, but cannot see anything of this sort. I would prefer not to drill holes into the speakers. I have seen plasma screen brackets that I can modify, but paying that much for something that is not made of this purpose is a bit of a waste.

Any advice where I can get good brackets.

Regards

Morne

ellies used to make good ones but they stopped making those a while back - if i was looking for speaker wallmounts now i would actually use regular LCD TV wall arm brackets

they can go horizontal or vertical as can be seen here - and all they need is a platform built onto the cross bracket to make them work as a perfect adjustable/adaptable bracket and they cost around R250 each - its not that expensive

i have recently seen some commercial speaker brackets from sanus and yodata - but those are for smallish speakers

a good but "pretty expensive" and not very adjustable option is to look at the ones from sound structures - they are solidly built but im not sure how far you can bring the speakers away from the wall since they are totally fixed in one position

Saw some speaker wall mount brackets at both HiFi corp in Woodmead, and DionWired, if you are in the area.
It's not the size of the sub, it's where you place it.

Morne, it may have been those I saw at DionWired about a month ago, I remember them being Vogels but not sure what model. I will shoot through later today or tomorrow and go have a look, have some errands to run in that area.

I bought a set of these http://www.ellies.co.za/index.php?id=225 at Dion Wired last year, but they aren't probably the most beautiful mounts I have seen around. Haven't used them yet though...

hang on to those - they have been discontinued and you cannot find those for love or money - they are terrific and absolutely strong as long as you dont mess up drilling holes to big into the wall while you mount them

well R782 plus shipping is a bit rough pricewise because when they were available locally as ellies versions they were around R300 (i paid R250 for my set)
