I am VERY envious.

One of the nostalgic tracks I remember listening to on those maggies was Texas - I don't want a lover. It was the only set of speakers that really brought Sharleen Spiteri voice to the forefront. Expecially listen for the first words, these are normally much more veiled on dynamic loudspeakers.

There was also Roger Waters - Amused to Death, track 13. The piano and the splash. Amazing.

Well this weekend the second Maggies feet were completed, but when I attached them on Sunday, I realised that we did them the wrong way round - the speaker is suppose to be slanted 5 degrees to the back, but now slant forward 5 degrees >:( Damn!

Well still tested them(using the NAD) with rubber under the feet to have both slanted back and they sound good, but then yesterday morning I connected my Flying Mole monoblocs to the pre-out of the NAD and Oh My Goodness! The sound went up quite a few notches(according my ears and for a change even my wife agrees ;) )

Now I have to visit Builders Warehouse or maybe Rare Woods ;) to get more wood to correct the ballsup, but it was a good learning curve as the wood only cost R160 :)

Oh dear abe - That alzheimers....

Those maggies deserve to be run on very good equipment. We had them running on some large nad monoblocks, as well as on an Aragon power amp.

My Thors are now completed, except for finishing at least. They sound awesome, better than any other dynamic I have heard (I am biased into class A here). I still feel the maggies have a charm that no other can match.

Try wootraders for solids. Their prices were very reason~abe~le the last time I called

I can't even blame Alzheimers :( But this will give me the opportunity to use wood that will be a closer match to the Oak sides, without any rush as the current feet will suffice till the new ones are completed.

Aha, I see Woodtraders is close to my place of work, thanks I will try them for some Oak(I better not F@ that up!)

Went to Woodtraders and got a piece of Oak to make the feet and I paid less than for the Meranti! Price for a 2.8m x 14cm x 2cm was R118!

Off course I also saw some lovely Rosewood, Teak, Imbuia, etc ;)
