Mornes Subwoofers are born
« on: July 13, 2011, 10:15:26 pm »
Morne was searching a while ago for some subwoofers to complement his speakers, and after a demo, and some discussion it was decided DIY is the way to go :)

Here we have some sketchups of the subwoofers, which will be two 15" subwoofers, in an slightly modified LLT configuration.

They measure 700x700x1160mm and is 32mm MDF all round.

I'm getting the MDF cut Saturday.

I already received the drivers, it's the Targa Street+ Series.

ooh ah, a nice beeeg build! Take my advise, if you don't already have, then get something to wheel it around the garage during construction....

Looking forward to the build log.

The Targa Street series subs really work well in HT application. Ran a few tests with them in the past and they worked really well.

For the guys with space issues I can recommend looking at the DLS MW12 sub. Also fantastic in home applications.

Going for a nice low tune of 12hz. -6db without roomgain at 10.5hz.  So will get a nice boost for those infrasonics.

Went to pickup the plate amps from Morne.
All the wood is now cut.
Time to start gluing to make 32mm MDF :)

Are you building 2 subs or are both speakers and amps for the same cabinet?

What amps are those?
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.

It's this amp: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-808

I don't have the schematics for it sorry.

This is two boxes, each have 15inch subwoofer and plate amp.
