just another note about the PMS. they go VERY low. you do not need a sub.

be careful to become speaker befok. more isn't merrier, more is exactly that, more distortion, more noise and much less of the stuff that matters

Try the new Mission MX5s :

"These stylish Missions offer a gigantic sound with bass strong enough to dent the walls." - What HiFi
(http://www.whathifi.com/review/mission-mx5)

"The construction of the MX5 suggests a prodigious low end and, in practice, the MX5 has commendable bass weight." - HiFi Choice
(via http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/hi-fi-and-audio/hi-fi-and-av-speakers/mission-mx5-915841/review)

Mission, btw, seems to have found their mojo again and the new MX range has been winning awards in the UK.
Perhaps because Peter Comeau (ex-Mission, now with IAG, Mission's holding company) has been personally involved in this range (I believe he designed the famed 780s back in the day).

Of course, you could always try and exercise a little patience and spend the next 6-12 months saving up some money first, and then buy something you can't necessarily afford at the moment.

I like the P.M.S

But you say I have to build them myself?

You really need to shift air to get low visceral bass, a single 6 or 8" driver wont really cut it.
Those PMS speakers look really nice Rudi.
The nicest thing about smacking your head against the wall is......the feeling you get when you stop.
Current system: Squeezebox Touch , Z-Sys RDP-1 , PS Audio DAC, Bryston 4B ST , Audiolab 8200mb Monoblocks, Canton Ergo 120dc or Meridian DSP5500 speaker

Rodney you are right getting the Visceral part. but then you add a IB to the equation for very clean bass
the PMS does go very low. 30hz

The wise men on this forum are sooooo right... for Audiophile quality...be very careful

A few years ago I bought this (wow now almost a decade ago):

Tannoy Kingdom 18 - Yes the 18 is for Damn powerful 18" Driver, 15" Mid&Bass 3" Tweeter and 1" Supertweeter

Took me three years to make it sing.... the best room was a guy called Brian with an 11x14m room.... I managed in 6x8m room, but then at 14Hz NOTHING doesnt rattle, overpower the room... flip man CD's skip

Does 300W work - No, just sometimes... that is in 8 Ohm

I can only say - Careful for what you wish for :->

Then I heard a Mark Levinson Rosebud and it blew me away.....
I was born analog, not digit by digit....
