Enclosure Group Buy
« on: July 01, 2011, 11:47:51 am »
HI Guys

So it seems i was WAY off with my guesstimates. In the previous thread.

Also i was incorrect about cost for cost difference between say 10 and 20 enclosures.

The numbers start to really differ at 50 units. but i doubt we will ever reach that high.

The kicker cost wise is the Setup charges for all the seperate parts. In this link is the quote I received from Metalgrapho:

http://www.mediafire.com/?a0b7mmih71snjng

So I ran the numbers:

The total setup charge including VAT for all the parts are R1995. This cost will be divided in the Amount of enclosures we can order.

So

Lets say we order 10 enclosures.

95mm enclosure each R472.19
135mm enclosure each R519.27
Setup charge each R199.50
So sadly each enclosure will run to R671.69 and R718.77

If we order 20 enclosures:

95mm enclosure each R472.19  (571.94 total)
135mm enclosure each R519.27  (619.02 total)
Setup Charge each R99.75

(hope I did the math correct)

So too come close to the Enclosures on yebo's website we need to order 20 units. (and then you still need to add a faceplate)

I am really sorry for my bad guesstimate in the other thread and if I got people's hopes up for nothing.
But I do however feel that this is a good quality enclosure.. The other costly thing is that shipping to you if you don't stay in cape town will have to be added above this.

So in short.

Who still wants?

I would love to get 2 small ones and 2 big ones.

But this makes MUCH more sense if we can get 16 more enclosures into the order at least.

With the new cheaper version of this enclosure like I posted in the other thread that uses only 2 parts (excluding the front panel).
I managed to get the cost per enclosure down considerably.

The lid and Base will now be mild steel. Powder coated black. Since there is only 4 parts , setup charges has gone down much. And so has cost per enclosure

So for 10 enclosures:

95mm Enclosure: R470.36   ( R470.36 + 114 = R584.36)
135mm Enclosure: R532.38  (532.38 + 114 = R642.38)
Setup charge: add R114 per enclosure

For 20 enclosures:

95mm Enclosure: R470.36  (R470.36 + 57 = R527.36)
135mm Enclsoure: R532.38 (R532.38 +  R57 = R589.38)
Setup Charge: add R57 per enclosure

Take into account that at yebo the 2U ,88.9mm enclosure will run you R603
the 3U , R678.98

These have 3mm Alu front panels.

Sigh. Please not really jumping on this. Fortunately I am in no hurry, so I can wait.

My pcb's and ordered and my components is on order for my build that i need an enclosure for.
So I will probably order in a week or two's time the cheaper option of the enclosures.

I'll put out a final "cry" then and then I will order for just myself and whoever is interested.

I am thinking next week will be order week.

If you want to have an image of how the enclosure can/will look then just look at the image of this Copland amplifier in the classifieds section.

http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,9262.0.html

So far We have

95mm enclosures:
MorneDJ x 3
dotVibe x 3
tangmonster x 2

135mm enclosures:
MorneDJ x 2
tangmonster x 2

That puts us at the total count of 12 units for around R584 and R642 respectively.

If anyone wants to jump in or pull out please let me know. Would like to order these early next week. We can worry about payment when I have to pay Metalgrapho which is normally when boxes are ready. Which could take 4 weeks.

MorneDJ asked very nicely if I can hold of a little on the order so that payment will only be needed on the 25th of August.

I'll let the order slip until the 25th of July which should place us perfectly on the 25th of August.

new numbers:

95mm enclosures:
MorneDJ x 3
dotVibe x 4
tangmonster x 2

135mm enclosures:
MorneDJ x 2
tangmonster x 2

13 total

Great news

Just sent off the drawings to another local company that has done work for me in the past.  (Technipunch)

Their cost comes in at.

95mm enclosure for order of 5 units:

R527.25

135mm enclosure for order of 5 units:

R569.08

It seems they charge a setup charge of only R160 per enclosure which obviously cuts down the total cost considerably.

Here are the two quotes for reference:

Fyi , placed the orders.

For the 135mm enclosures i will be getting a faceplate.

4.5mm brushed natural anodized alu with rounded edges.

I got a quote for the 95mm enclosure that came to R170 a pop. That is encluding punches for the 5mm holes to attach faceplate to enclosure.

If any of you want to join in that second order later I'll start a second group buy. In this thread.

Hi guys

3d drawings to look at.

makes the whole picture much easier to understand. I already pointed them to one mistake and that is that they didn't make the lid flush with the front. They are redrawing it right now. He didn't understand that there is going to be a faceplate on the front added afterwards. I am checking to see if there isn't any other mistakes in the meantime.

one other chage. They had a 2x25mm tool or a 3x30mm tool for the lid ventilation holes. So i said 2x25 is good. Everyone happy with that?
