Got a router?

Make jigs, ie guides for the bit to follow. Otherwise it might be a bit more difficult to get those armboards very neatly cut out.

Good suggestion. I've got a router. I'll put it to good use.
The first watt is the most important, but it does not mean I cannot have 99 other great watts.

The mathematics of tone arm mounting is still something I have not got my head around. Although I've worked out how to make a mounting template using Arc Template Generator, except this does not help me as I need to generate my template from the overhang degrees to compensate for the inability to move the cartridge (because it is a head shell) in the head shell. Spindle to pivot would simply be enough to do the finer work with the protractor and the moving of the cartridges.

All of this with one of the SME mounting bases which slide normally in the wrong direction. How must one know if you should mount it North running South or NE or NEE.

I can see I'll be at this one for a while.  :D

Hi J.S.

I used the following cutout (and tone-arm mounting) template from here: http://www.acoustica.org.uk/downloads/301.pdf from the following page: http://www.acoustica.org.uk/other/garrard.html

Just make sure when you print it that the scale is 100%

The past, the present and the future walk into a bar. It was tense.  :nutter:

Thanks Alternativeroute. I printed it to confirm the hole I made for tonearm mounting board.

Pictures of plinth to soon follow.

I am currently on the prowl for a 12" tonearm. Please see my ad in the classifieds for more details.

The grease that I use in my 301's:

Autoline
Maltis12
Wheel bearing grease

It is a lithium soap grease for use in wheel bearings, other ball and roller bearings
